Daiwa Emblem Surf SCW QD Type -R
The Emblem Surf SCW is the counterpart of the Emblem Carp, customized for the sea. This powerful reel has increased protection from the outside elements for a unique lifespan. The frame is protected by MagSealed oil, fixed in a magnetic field to prevent the intrusion of water and impurities even during full rotation. The 6 bearings are treated against corrosion. This reel has a spool in size 35 or 45 with an oscillation height of 35 and 45 mm respectively. Its technical polycarbonate frame gives it a significant reduction in weight. It comes with two coils of different and complementary capacities.
The SCW model has a slow oscillation called Slow CrossWrap. The CW model has moderate oscillation. Thus, the SCW model offers more precise storage by contiguous turns during recovery. Many surfcasting enthusiasts have a preference for this feature. Now they can enjoy this slow oscillation while still benefiting from the Daiwa quality. This Emblem has been able to combine slow oscillation and rapid recovery: it takes 1.04 to 1.06 m of wire with each turn of the crank!
The QD brake makes it possible, in a half-turn of the brake knob, to switch from a "clutch" mode (free brake) to a "combat" mode (brake applied). The round HIP wire clip mounted on a high quality spring allows you to mark your casting distance to reposition the rig in the same place on the next cast.
- Quick Drag Quick Brake
- Bearings: 6 + 1
- Polycarbonate frame and rotor for more resistance while maintaining lightness
- Original and additional aluminum coils
- Slow Cross Wrap
- Folding aluminum crank
- Anti-tangling guides on the shaft and rotor, preventing the line from passing under the spool
- Line clip HIP metal mounted on shock absorber, very robust to mark the distance to cast without risking breakage
Strong points
- Slow oscillation
- Powerful

High technology derived from Aerospace, MAGSEALED is a magnetic oil ensuring the protection of the internal mechanics and improving the rotation of the reel.
MAGSEALED technology is based on a magnetic oil developed by NASA. This magnetic liquid seal was originally used in the transmission of computer hard drives. It was sealed against dust, not water. The problem of water pressure had to be overcome. The great challenge for Daiwa engineers was to control the intensity of the magnetic force and it was necessary to repeat the tests hundreds of times until adjustments of the order of a micron! Field tests carried out by the best specialists in each fishing technique have shown a considerable gain in rotational fluidity.
Maintenance of a reel equipped with Mag Sealed technology
Mag Sealed oil being very technical and stabilized in a magnetic field, it must absolutely not be mixed with any other component (neither oil, nor grease, nor solvent). Penetrating oil of the penetrating or lubricating type must not be sprayed on a reel equipped with this technology.
Magsealed oil is retained by a magnet, it does not degrade. It improves the fluidity and the life of the reel.
After each fishing trip, the ideal is to rinse the reel under a low flow jet (no booster) then dry it with a cloth after having quickly turned the crank in order to remove excess water by rotation. .
There is no major annual maintenance. For intensive use, especially at sea, it is possible to carry out an overhaul to check the Mag Sealed by giving the reel to the dealer who will send it to DAIWA after-sales service.
Only DAIWA after-sales service has the original Mag Sealed oil which is not commercially available. DAIWA after-sales technicians are trained and qualified for the maintenance of reels equipped with this technology
.
Balance, robustness and sensitivity characterize the Air-Rotor.
Its arched profile, 15% lighter than a standard rotor, provides optimum rotational fluidity and eliminates vibrations thanks to a lower center of gravity.
Stress tests
When applying pressure to the rotors, a weakening point appears on the standard shape (in yellow and red) as the Air Rotor distributes the load over its entire arch structure.
The Digigear II gearing offers a larger format at the level of the helical teeth as of the steel wheel for greater fluidity and longevity.
