Daiwa Saltiga 2020

The essential Saltiga evolves and brings together the latest Daiwa technologies for heavy fishing. In order to meet the needs of all anglers, a new sizing system is applied to the Saltiga 2020 as well as two types of cranks offered.

Improved lifespan

The Saltiga 2020 frame benefits from the latest Daiwa innovations: its Monocoque Body structure in a single machined symmetrical piece gives the reel greater robustness. Entirely made of aluminum, the strength of the frame is increased. The control wheel encapsulated in the frame is wider (46 mm) and thicker (8.7 mm) than the previous version of the Saltiga (2015) while being lighter thanks to its G1 dura-aluminum composition. In order to limit erosion, the reel is painted with 5 superimposed layers: anodization, anti-static paint, primer, paint and varnish. The aluminum Air Rotor is stiffer than ZAION carbon and more powerful so the pickup arm is stronger. On either side of the control wheel, two MagSealed bearings ensure fluidity and tightness to the Saltiga.

For strong peaches with complete peace of mind

The ATD (Automatic Tournament Drag) brake system is now composed of 14 elements compared to 6 for the 2015 Saltiga, which makes the 2020 Saltiga ten times more powerful and enduring than its predecessor. The brake knob has also been redesigned: it gains in ergonomics thanks to its enlargement of 42%. Like the button cover and the brake clamp (two internal components), the brake button is made of aluminum. This allows heat transfer and evacuation which guarantees the fluidity and efficiency of the Saltiga. In order to adjust the brake with precision, the sound of the pawl has been intensified. Ideal for competing against sport fish, the round or oval shaped aluminum handle offers a powerful and comfortable grip. Always with the aim of maximizing the pleasure of fishing, the Saltiga 2020 is equipped with an LC-ABS (Long Cast) spool which ensures fluid line output as well as a reduction in the risk of wigs. Another practical detail of the Saltiga 2020 is housed in the pickup, the opening and closing of which is controlled by a ratchet that prevents the rotor from spinning in full throw.

A new scale of sizes

For the sake of consistency with small spinning reels, the Saltiga 2020 range adopts a new size scale: from 8000 (corresponding to size 4500 of Saltiga 2015) to 20,000 (formerly size 8000).

With this new range, the Saltiga pushes the limits of performance further thanks to the high technologies that equip it. It only remains for the fishermen to take it in hand and beat their record.
